Hub City Film hosts TEEN FILM CAMP
This week The NED is buzzing with creativity with an inaugural, immersive experience for aspiring film makers, ages 13 to 18!

For the first time, young people ages 13 to 18 are getting an up-close introduction to the world of filmmaking. Designed as an entry point into the craft, the camp offers students a glimpse behind the scenes of how stories are brought to life on screen.
Led by filmmakers Shelby Tyre, Eli McCaig, and Jessica Galvan-Guzman, the program welcomes a diverse group of teens who are learning not just how films are made, but why each creative choice matters.
Participants are divided into smaller teams, each exploring a different element of the filmmaking process—writing, directing, cinematography, and production design.
Throughout the week, they’ve examined how scripts can evolve during filming, and how even small changes in lighting, framing, or dialogue can transform a scene.
These discussions give students a chance to imagine themselves as both creators and problem-solvers, working through real-world scenarios that challenge their thinking and spark collaboration
The young filmmakers will unveil the results of their work: a short film written, produced, and directed by the students themselves. Friends and family are invited to attend the premiere and celebrate what promises to be the beginning of a new tradition, a launching pad for voices that might one day shape stories on screens far beyond Jackson. The film will also be submitted to the 3rd Annual Hub City Film Festival.
A Cinematic Celebration Is Coming to Jackson!
Mark your calendars for October 2–4, 2025, as the Hub City Film Festival returns with three days of screenings, conversations, and creative celebration at The CO. On Thursday and Friday, programming begins after 5 p.m., while Saturday offers a full day of events culminating in the much-anticipated awards ceremony.
A standout feature this year is a local filmmaker panel led by Shelby Tyre, spotlighting voices from West Tennessee and exploring what it means to create films rooted in our region. Another highlight is the feature screening of Color Book, followed by a discussion with the creative team. Full details and ticket information can be found at the link provided here. Don’t miss this vibrant showcase of storytelling in the heart of Jackson!
