Farewell TO A Favorite: Trees n Trends Bids a Fond Goodbye
"Connecting The Dots-Jackson" seeks goods news. Seeing this retail favorite close is not happy news, but shoppers today shared sweet memories and enjoyed good deals. All things come to change.
There’s a particular kind of sadness that comes when a long-loved store closes its doors, not just because it’s the end of a business, but because it feels like saying goodbye to a member of the family.
For Jackson, Tennessee, that feeling came full force with the announcement that Trees and Trends is closing after more than 30 years of bringing beauty, warmth, and inspiration to homes across the region.
From the beginning, Trees and Trends wasn’t just a store. It was the expression of the Wallace family’s creativity and heart. In 1992, they opened their first store in Paducah, Kentucky under the name Silk Tree Factory. A year later, Jackson welcomed their second location. What began as a small venture in silk florals grew into a full-scale home décor destination. Stores were added in Missouri and Arkansas, evolving in style and scope, but always staying grounded in the family values that built it.
Customers who stepped inside weren’t just entering a showroom—they were stepping into a space that felt personal. There was a sense of care in every corner, whether it was a seasonal display that sparked inspiration for fun holidays,
or a helpful suggestion to honor a loved one at the cemetery. That warmth came from the top down. Many of the store’s employees have been with the company for 20 or even 30 years, becoming part of the Wallace family in spirit as much as in work. And it showed. The store felt like a place where people belonged.
Over the years, the Wallace family made it their mission to bring special things to their customers—from handcrafted ornaments to one-of-a-kind furnishings sourced from around the globe.
Family members who grew up working in the warehouse and later helped modernize the store’s online presence, reflect how deeply rooted this business has been in family effort and pride.
Each piece on the shelf told a story, and those stories became a part of customers’ lives, gracing living rooms, adorning holiday tables, or being given as heartfelt gifts.
Throughout the store's final days, customer after customers are sharing memories: the centerpiece they bought for their daughter’s wedding, the wreath that hung on the door for every Christmas, the perfect gift they found for a friend going through a hard time.
Even in closing, Trees and Trends remains a testament to the kind of business that is difficult to find in today’s fast-paced retail world: family-led and relationship-driven. The Wallace family’s message of gratitude was filled with humility and warmth, thanking not only the loyal customers, but also the employees who worked along side the owners, and family members, building the dream together.
New store hours until the final days are 10am to 6pm. They will be open on July 4, from 10am to 4pm.
Christmas items are all sold out. Patio furniture is going fast. Shop now, and remember to tell the employees you appreciate them. Thank you to the Wallace family, from those of us who walked through your doors and felt like family.
