A Week of Winners in Jackson, TN
Members of The National Skating Jam League rolled into The Ritz-Magic Wheels Skating Center early this past week, from cities near and far, to compete for over $20,000.00 in cash and prizes.
Competitors from across the country arrived in Jackson early this past week, for the Third Annual National Skating Jam League Championship.
Competitive Jam Skating is a relatively new sport for men and women, that combines gymnastics, breakdancing, and freestyle skating—all performed on roller skates inside a 30-foot “Jam Circle.” Athletes compete solo and in teams, choreographing their moves to the rhythm, beat, and lyrics of the latest music, in an intense display of athleticism and style.
The Ritz - Magic Wheels in Jackson hosted the event and associate Finnley Hardin welcomed the competitors and home-town skaters throughout the busy weekend.
League partnership official Jensen Vasic explained that the Jam League’s national competition returns to the Ritz-Magic Wheels Center each year because hospitality at The Ritz is so welcoming and Jackson’s central location makes travel more convenient for participants who travel from as far as Utah, Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Missouri and Mississippi!
Throughout the weekend, the venue buzzed with activity! The workshops, group classes, and warm-up sessions filled every corner as skaters prepared for their qualifying rounds.
This high-energy event drew mostly young adults in their late teens and early twenties, many of whom have competed here each of the past two years.
Kiera Miller, from Missouri, is taking a break with her family after her winning performance.
It’s clear that strong bonds have formed among these athletes and their families—many of whom travel with them.
Though they may only see one another once a year, the event has grown into something more than just a competition.
There’s a real sense of reunion and camaraderie that fills the air.
Javin Johnson, in Jackson from the Dallas, Tx area, rests after a practice session.
Ending the action packed week with prizes, cash awards, and celebrations. And in the heart of it all was the unmistakable joy of connection—through music, movement, and shared passion. Congratulations on a great Summer Jam.
